In an exclusive interview with China Energy News on March 4, Ling Wen, member of the CPPCC National Committee and CEO of China Energy, said that there is no doubt that the importance hydrogen energy is recognized all over the world. It is one of the important choices of clean energy for the future. “We are quite confident in this respect. Although China got started late, we have our unique advantages,” said Ling.

Ling Wen said that there are currently three main modes of hydrogen energy production. The first mode is coal-to-hydrogen with our relatively rich coal resources. The second mode is the production of hydrogen with renewable energy. At present, there is a large amount of renewable energy in our country that can’t be transmitted to the power grid. It is easy and technically feasible to use the abandoned renewable energy, including wind, light and water to produce hydrogen energy. The third mode is the industrial production of hydrogen, with the chemical industry, coke oven, etc. China is a country with a large production capacity for hydrogen energy. We have unique advantages in all the above aspects.

At the same time, hydrogen energy is widely used. The general public is having a strong interest in its use in passenger cars and civilian vehicles. But it’s more important for it to be used in the heavy-duty vehicles of mines and ports, logistics vehicles, heavy diesel vehicles with heavy pollution, as well as rail transit, ships and even aircraft. All of the above are in the direction of our future innovation. Hydrogen energy can help China transform from a big energy country to a strong energy country. I am fully confident in the leading role of hydrogen energy. At present, China Energy is promoting the development of all the links of the industrial chain, including the production, transportation and storage of hydrogen, hydrogen filling stations, fuel cells, etc.
