Wang Xiangxi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Energy, met with Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), on May 16, exchanging views and ideas on further deepening cooperation.
Wang extended warm welcome to Birol and gave him an introduction on China Energy’s achievements in pollution-free use of conventional fossil fuels and large-scale development of clean energy. China Energy was ready to work with the IEA to promote the development and utilization of clean energy so as to make greater contribution to energy saving, carbon emission reduction and global warming control, Wang said. He also expressed hopes that both sides would make specific cooperation arrangements in areas such as technological innovation and talent training.
Despite fossil fuels continuing being the main energy source, there was great potential in pollution-free utilization of coal energy, CCS and hydrogen power development, said Birol. The IEA was willing to maintain long-term partnership with China Energy and share new technologies and knowledge through exchanges and cooperation, he added.
