They established the world’s highest-altitude wind farm in Nagqu, which is the first-ever wind power project in Tibet Autonomous Region. He has also endeavored to help the regional government solve the problem of power supply for 700,000 farmers and herders of 170,000 households, which earned him nickname “Bright Tashi” (lit. Bright Blessing) from local Tibetans. Zhang has won a number of honorary titles including Role Model of Central SOEs, National Model Worker, Outstanding CPC Member of Central SOEs and Best Figure of Central SOEs.
