Students at the Abuzelu Primary School in Butuo County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, kicked off their new semester on September 1. The school was built with funds of more than 16 million yuan invested by China Energy. On the first day of the new semester, students put on new school uniforms donated by China Energy Foundation. The school is a special boarding school for orphans, children from single-parent families, left-behind children, and children from registered poor households. Since the start of the new semester, students moved from shabby prefabricated classrooms to new teaching buildings.

In recent years, thanks to the kind assistance from China Energy, the primary school has seen drastic changes. Modern teaching buildings have replaced prefabricated classrooms. To reduce living burdens of students from poverty-stricken families, the foundation donated 852,000 yuan to buy school uniforms, underwear and socks for the 1,200 students in the school. Moreover, it equipped the school with teaching instruments and equipment and bought teaching materials for all primary and secondary school students in Butuo County.
