On September 15, the hoisting work of the first large plate beam of the No. 1 boiler of Shanghaimiao Company, a subsidiary of GD Power Development Co., Ltd. under China Energy, was successfully completed. It marks that the works of the No.1 Unit have been shifted from civil construction to equipment installation. The successful hoisting work lays a solid foundation for heating surface installation and future unit construction.

The large plate beam, tied with steel ropes and protective shelters, is ready for lifting.

According to construction plans, the thermal power project involves an ultra-supercritical coal-fired indirect air-cooled unit with a power of 4×1000MW. The boilers of the project are the type-Π single furnace of Babcock & Wilcox with a total of eight large plate beams. The hoisted plate beam this time is the K2 lower beam weighing 86.2 tons, and the height for installation elevation is 84.8 meters. The plate beam was lifted by a 1,600-ton crawler crane and was smoothly and securely placed.

The large plate beam is hoisted to pass the boiler side and rise to the top of the furnace.

The hoisting of the plate beam, considered to be dangerous and require high skills, is an important milestone before the boiler installation. The company established a task force for the work, and considering various factors such as the on-site climate environment, the weight of the first large beam and the lifting position, the company organized professional and technical personnel to conduct discussions and simulation exercises, worked out detailed technical plans and safety measures, and invited six experts to discuss whether it is same and viable to implement the plan.

After the final on-site inspection data confirmation and comprehensive and detailed safety technical clarifications, the commanding and operating personnel strictly followed relevant standards for assembling large plate beams of boilers, while the management personnel of the company, supervising units and construction units were standing by side and work with the workers at the surface and on steel frames to make sure the beam was hoisted in place successfully.

Technicians adjust the angle to lower the large plate beam to the planned position.
