CHN Energy Features Strong Business Performance in Q1

On April 16, CHN Energy announced that its first-quarter business performance reaches a sound level, breaks several records from the same period last year and demonstrates a stable yet improving development trend.

Specifically, CHN Energy’s monthly average coal production reached 51.91 million tons during the first quarter, maintaining a peak level of 50 million tons for 30 consecutive months; the average monthly electricity generation reached 103.1 billion kilowatt-hours, a 7.4% increase year-on-year; and both electricity generation and heating during the winter and spring heating seasons saw double-digit growth year-on-year, successfully fulfilling key periods, major events, and critical regional energy supply tasks.

CHN Energy maintained an industry-leading number of electricity utilization hours in the first quarter, with railway, port, and air transport volumes increasing by 7.5%, 9.4%, and 12.4%, respectively, and chemical production and sales volumes exceeding the annual plan by 27%.

Several key projects were launched during the first quarter. On January 1, the 100-megawatt wind power project in Nagqu City, Xizang (Chinese name for “Tibet”) Autonomous Region , fully connected to the grid, supplying 200 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to Nagqu annually, meeting the electricity needs of over 200,000 people. On April 1, the first turbine unit of the Ma’erdang Hydropower Station in Qinghai officially connected to the grid. With a total installed capacity of 2.32 million kilowatts, it is the largest hydropower project under construction at the highest altitude along the upper reaches of the Yellow River. On April 7, CHN Energy completed hydrogen fueling adjustments at its heavy-load railway hydrogen energy research demonstration station, equipping it to enter the heavy-load railway market.

Additionally, CHN Energy launched a batch of major projects at the end of March. In Xinjiang, Qinghai, Hebei, and Ningxia, 80 key projects with a total investment of 400 billion yuan were commenced, including the Hami Energy Integration Innovation Base infrastructure construction project, the Bortala Comprehensive Energy Demonstration Project, the Hejing pumped storage power station and the Gunhabuqile Hydropower Station.
