Longyuan Power Included in ‘50 Best ESG Central SOEs’ Index

On September 18, Longyuan Power under China Energy was included in the “50 Best ESG Central SOEs” index, and its poverty alleviation project in Youyu County, Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, was included in the Blue Paper on ESG of Listed Central SOEs (2021) by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council as an ESG best practice case.

The “50 Best ESG Central SOEs” index is a ranking of the top 50 selected from 440 listed central SOEs based on an overall evaluation in terms of ESG management, social value, and ESG management capacity. Longyuan Power scored 72.46 in ESG evaluation and was listed as a 4.5-star company, for which it was included in the index.

In recent years, Longyuan Power has been committed to fulfilling its responsibilities as a central SOE and implementing the ESG-oriented development concept. In terms of social value, it has taken concrete action to push forward targeted poverty alleviation, consolidating its poverty reduction achievements in Zuoyu County. It attaches great importance to technological innovation, improves innovation systems and mechanisms, and participates in the formulation of international standards, with its say and influence constantly increasing in the industry. As COVID-19 stroke by surprise, it took immediate response and active measures to follow the call of the government and help local communities carry out epidemic prevention and control and guarantee people’s livelihood. In terms of social and environmental risk control, the company has established an occupational disease prevention committee and included relevant requirements into the workplace safety and environmental evaluation index, ensuring the company’s sustainable and healthy development. It takes an active part in implementing state policies on energy conservation and emission reduction. Through carbon emission screening, carbon trading, scientific research on the emissions of coal-fired power plants, and energy-saving transformation, it is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing global climate change and continues forging ahead toward the goal of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
