    Technology for coordinated development of resources and environment at 10-million-ton coal mine cluster: The group has established the world’s first coal mining area with an annual output of 200 million tons and developed key technology for coordinated development and resource allocation at 10-million-ton coal mine cluster, which won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

    Key technology for underground water protection and surface restoration of coal mining in ecologically vulnerable areas: Based on a study of the impact of coal mining on underground water and the earth’s surface, the technology has helped solve major technical problems in water resource and ecological protection in coal mines in western China and won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

    Microbial remediation technology and application in land reclamation in mining areas in arid and semi-arid regions of western China: The microbial remediation technology covers many aspects in land reclamation in mining areas, including restoration of damaged roots, water and nutrient absorption and soil structure improvement, and has won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

    Key technology and demonstration project for intelligent coal mining: The group has established the world’s largest intelligent coal mine cluster with an annual output of 100 million tons, which has realized intelligent resource allocation. As a pioneering project in the development of intelligence coal mining, it won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

  • 2Clean, Efficient and Intelligent Coal-fired Power Generation Technologies

    CHN Energy has made great efforts in implementing the innovation-driven development strategy and achieved remarkable accomplishments in the development of world leading coal-fired power generation technologies. It has independently developed a control system for ultra-clean/near-zero emission, a control system for coal thermal power units and the technology for fuel-free plasma ignition and stable combustion. The company has also built the world’s first 600-megawatt (MW) supercritical coal thermal power unit utilizing circulating fluid bed (CFB) technology and 1,000-MW ultra-supercritical double reheat coal thermal power unit.

    600-MW supercritical CFB boiler technology and its demonstration project: It is the world’s first of its kind with the largest capacity and the highest parameters and has won First Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

    1,000-MW ultra-supercritical double reheat coal thermal power unit in Taizhou: It is the world’s first of its kind with the best overall performance and has won China’s National Quality Engineering Project Gold Award.

    Technology for fuel-free plasma ignition and stable combustion in pulverized coal boiler: It has realized ignition and combustion without fuel and helped save seven tons of fuel annually. It has won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award and China Patent Gold Award.

    Automatic control system for large-scale ultra-supercritical power unit: It made breakthroughs in automation equipment development, composite modeling, control optimization and online simulation, and won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

  • 3Clean and Efficient Coal Conversion Technologies

    CHN Energy enjoys advantages in coal chemical technology and has achieved clean and efficient utilization of coal, which is of great significance to China’s economic development and national security.

    Coal chemical technology for large-scale coal-to-liquid and coal-to-olefin projects: The group has established the world’s first demonstration project of direct liquefaction of one-million tons of coal and 600,000-ton coal-to-olefin, making CHN Energy the only energy enterprise in the world that operates large-scale coal-to-liquid and coal-to-olefin projects at the same time. The technology won First Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award and China Patent Gold Award and has been recognized by nine countries including Russia, the United States and India.

    The world's largest demonstration project of indirect liquefaction of 4 million tons of coal per year: CHN Energy took the lead in the world in using Fischer-Tropsch process for indirect liquefaction of 4 million tons of coal per year by high-temperature slurry bed and using single-nozzle dry coal powder pressurized gasification technology to treat 2,000 to 3,000 tons of coal. It made breakthroughs in 1,000 Nm3/h air separation technology, breaking foreign technology monopoly. The key patent of the project “swirling dry coal powder gasifier” won the China Patent Gold Award.

    Coal-based new fuels: Coal-based diesel, coal-based jet fuel and coal-based space kerosene, featuring low freezing point, large specific gravity, and high thermal stability, are ultra-clean fuels with low sulfur, low nitrogen and low aromatics, and can be used in a wide range of fields including military, aerospace and aviation.

    A complete system for carbon capture and storage (CCS) and monitoring in coal chemical industry: The company has grasped the technology for large-scale CCS in low-porosity and low-permeability continental saline aquifers and has built Asia’s first 100,000-ton coal-fired CCS demonstration project, which has won the Science and Technology Progress Second Class Award granted by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.

  • 4Eco-friendly and Intelligent Coal Transportation Technologies

    CHN Energy is committed to technological innovation in heavy-duty rail transport, featuring the 30-ton axle heavy-duty transportation on existing rails. The company has also realized the intelligent control of the entire process and eco-friendly production in coal ports.

    Key technology for upgrading engineering equipment of 30-ton axle heavy-duty rail: It has helped promote the development of heavy-duty railways in China and won the Science and Technology First Class Award granted by China Railway Society.

    Technology for prevention of sudden siltation in channels along silt-sandy coasts: The technology has helped solved the problem of sudden siltation in channels along silt-sandy coastal areas and won Second Prize of China’s National Science and Technology Progress Award.

    Shenhua high-power AC drive electric locomotive: The company has developed 8-axle and 12-axle high-power AC drive electric locomotives with independent intellectual property rights and built a world-class locomotive product chain.

    Intelligent control system and dust suppression system for coal ports: The integrated three-dimensional visualized control system realizes intelligent control of the entire process and unmanned operation of core process. The dust suppression system enables coal ports to create a clean environment and increase production without increasing pollution and has won the Gold Ward at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.

    Wireless reconnection control technology for heavy-duty locomotive: The company has established a set of standards and specifications for wireless reconnection of heavy-duty locomotive with independent intellectual property rights, breaking foreign technology monopoly.

  • 5Key Technologies for New and Renewable Energy

    CHN Energy has developed key technologies covering the entire industry chain in wind power generation, nurtured the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers and built China’s first big-data center for wind power plant operation. At present, the company has a total installed capacity of 56.84 million kilowatts in electricity generation using renewable energy sources. The installed capacity of wind power generation is 37.03 million kilowatts, the world’s highest, and the installed capacity of hydropower generation is 18.62 million kilowatts. The company has built a complex of cascade hydropower plants on the Dadu River.

    Key technologies for high-efficiency and low-speed wind turbines: A series of technologies have been developed and used in the low-speed wind turbines operated by the United Power, including blade-to-machine integrated design, control system and technology for lower-load and higher-efficiency.
