On February 18, the bulk carrier “GENCO TITUS” carrying coal purchased by the Hong Kong branch of the coal arm of China Energyfrom South Africa anchored in Fangchenggang Port of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. After completing customs clearance, the coal will be delivered to two different terminal users. This was the first time that the company integrated terminal demand and logistics to achieve joint shipment and delivery with one ship, marking an innovation in the marketing of imported coal.
In the beginning of this year, the company opened a new channel to import coal from South Africa while joining hands with its partners in Guangxi to obtain accurate information on users’ demand for imported coal from South Africa and the obstacles that hinder their purchase process. After several rounds of multilateral negotiations, the company used one ship to transport imported coal for two power plants, effectively solving the problem that a single client cannot afford buying a whole ship of bulk coal. Moreover, this new shipment and delivery pattern helps South Africa make new breakthroughs in expanding its overseas coal markets while meeting customers’ demand.
