Entering the Boao Demonstration Zone Focusing on Almost Zero Emissions on Dongyu Island in Qionghai, Hainan, the photovoltaic louvers and photovoltaic floor tiles shine brightly; flower-shaped wind turbines run without noise, spingracefully. The renewable energy utilization, green transportation, and eco-friendly building sectors undertaken by the Hainan branch of CHN Energy have all been prepared for the Boao Forum for Asia 2024 conference.
"Now we are on duty at CHN Energy Boao Photovoltaic Power Station 24 hours a day. By conducting comprehensive checks on equipment operation and identifying equipment problems, as well as ensuring emergency supplies and equipment maintenance materials are in reserve, we improve the quality of monitoring and inspection, fully guaranteeing safe production," said Yan Liang, station manager of the Boao Photovoltaic Power Station of the Hainan branch.
The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 will be held in Boao from March 26th to 29th. Located on Dongyu Island in Qionghai, Hainan, the Boao Demonstration Zone Focusing on Almost Zero Emissions, as the permanent venue of the Boao Forum for Asia, showcases China's green and low-carbon development concepts, technologies, and practices to the world.
The photovoltaic power station overseen by Yan Liang is a beautiful sight in the Boao Demonstration Zone Focusing on Almost Zero Emissions, featuring projects such as the Distributed Photovoltaic Integration Project on the island and the Off-Island Agricultural and Photovoltaic Complementary Project in the Renewable Energy Utilization sector, and the On-Island Green Transportation Site Construction Project and the Transportation Supporting Facilities and Equipment Construction Projec" in the Green Transportation sector.
With 66 sets of intelligent integrated lamp posts combining photovoltaic lighting, video surveillance, environmental monitoring, and information dissemination, the demonstration zone's walkways are adorned beautifully. The 204 charging piles distributed in 7 green smart parking lots transform green electricity into powerful energy for vehicles. The ingenious design of distributed photovoltaic systems such as photovoltaic railings, photovoltaic corridors, photovoltaic louvers, and photovoltaic floor tiles is impressive. The projects undertaken by CHN Energy, such as off-island agricultural and photovoltaic complementary power generation and on-island distributed photovoltaic and green transportation transformation projects, provide service guarantees for the Boao Forum for Asia.
The Boao Demonstration Zone Focusing on Almost Zero Emissions consists of 8 major categories and 18 sub-projects. Fan Qingliang, Deputy General Manager of Hainan New Energy Development Company of CHN Energy, introduced that Hainan Company has implemented 6 projects in 3 sectors, including the "Renewable Energy Utilization" sector's "Integrated Construction Project of Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Systems" and "Agricultural and Photovoltaic Complementary Organic Fruit and Vegetable Supply Base Project"; the "Green Transportation" sector's "On-Island Green Transportation Site Construction Project", "Off-Island Green Transportation Connection Station Construction Project", and "Transportation Supporting Facilities and Equipment Construction Project"; and expanded the "Building Greenization" sector's "News Center Renovation Project" with the most prominent "Light Storage Direct Soft" system construction project.
In the "Renewable Energy Utilization" sector, Hainan Company has constructed approximately 20 megawatts of agricultural and photovoltaic complementary projects and a 3.2 megawatt distributed photovoltaic power generation project. Among them, the "Agricultural and Photovoltaic Complementary Project" has introduced smart agricultural technology suitable for high-value-added crops in Hainan's natural greenhouse climate for the first time, and the project has been affirmed by the provincial government, becoming a model and benchmark for agricultural and photovoltaic complementary projects in the province. The "Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Power Generation Project" applies various new photovoltaic components such as prefabricated BIPV, photovoltaic louvers, photovoltaic railings, photovoltaic floor tiles, and photovoltaic corridors to construct photovoltaic buildings that are highly integrated with architecture.
The Boao Forum for Asia News Center, located in the Boao Near Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone, is where domestic and foreign journalists work, and it is also a zero-carbon building in the demonstration zone with self-sufficient energy supply. Here, Hainan Company has used energy routers to construct the "Light Storage Direct Soft" system covering wind power generation, rooftop photovoltaics, all-vanadium liquid flow energy storage, and flexible loads, adopting advanced AC/DC hybrid mode to optimize and upgrade light storage direct soft technology. During the renovation process, Hainan Company has also applied the environmentally friendly, highly secure, and long-life all-vanadium liquid flow long-duration energy storage system for the first time in the construction of the island's building light storage direct soft system, promoting exploration of new scenarios for long-duration energy storage in low-carbon buildings.
In addition, around the "Green Transportation Transformation," Hainan Company has implemented permeable transformation of parking lots on Dongyu Island, constructed 204 charging piles, and built 66 sets of multifunctional intelligent lamp posts for the main roads on the island, achieving the first full coverage of flexible charging piles and intelligent lamp post terminals in Hainan Province and establishing a highly integrated transportation energy network, fostering a new form of integrated "transportation + electricity" industry.
Now, the demonstration zone has completed the construction tasks of 8 major categories and 18 projects, achieving self-balancing electricity consumption and entering the near-zero carbon operation stage. Clean energy adds color to Hainan's blue skies and clear waters. In the future, the Hainan Company of the National Energy Group will continue to play a leading role in demonstration and actively support Hainan in building a clean energy island, helping Hainan develop its distinctive free trade port, and promoting the establishment of more zero-carbon demonstration zones in Hainan.
