On March 26th, the 2024 China International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition (referred to as the Hydrogen Energy Exhibition), jointly organized by the National Alliance of Hydrogen and Fuel Cell (hereinafter referred to as the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance), the China Electricity Council will be held in Beijing.
Hydrogen energy is a strategic emerging industry and a key direction for future industrial development in China. China’s Government Work Report of 2024 first proposed accelerating the development of frontier hydrogen energy and other industries. To implement the strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, this Hydrogen Energy Exhibition will build a display platform for the innovative integration and development of green hydrogen production, storage, transmission, and utilization, empower the ecological development of the green hydrogen energy industry, accelerate global multilateral cooperation, cultivate new driving forces for green development, and promote the high-quality development of the hydrogen energy industry.
"Barometer" of the Hydrogen Energy Industry
With the implementation of China's "Medium and Long-Term Plan for Hydrogen Energy (2021-2035)" and the steady progress of demonstration cities for fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen energy development has gradually become an important direction for high-quality development of local energy economies. The Hydrogen Energy Exhibition started in 2021 and is now in its third edition. As the first major hydrogen energy exhibition event of the year held in Beijing, it has received extensive attention and support from competent ministries and commissions, state-owned enterprises, industry organizations, international energy organizations, international companies, news media, financial institutions, and the entire hydrogen energy industry chain. The Hydrogen Energy Exhibition is divided into two parts: exhibition and forum. With an exhibition area of 13,000 square meters, it brings together more than 200 leading global hydrogen energy and fuel cell industry enterprises, providing a comprehensive view of the entire hydrogen production, storage, transmission, and utilization chain of innovation achievements. It is expected that there will be 50,000 professional visitors during the exhibition. The forum includes one main forum and the "International Hydrogen Energy Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum" and three thematic forums: "Green Hydrogen Technology and Coordinated Development of Hydrogen Electricity," "First China-UK Energy Dialogue Hydrogen Energy Side Meeting," and "International Green Hydrogen Standards and Markets." These forums jointly explore the development trends of the hydrogen energy industry.
The Hydrogen Energy Exhibition is also a "barometer" of the hydrogen energy industry. This year, the exhibition area and the number of participating companies have significantly increased compared to last year. It has achieved comprehensive upgrades in overall scale, concurrent activities, and the number of exhibits, closely linking with the China International Clean Energy Expo. Exhibitors cover energy central (national) enterprises, international organizations, research institutions, key industry enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, financial institutions, and other hydrogen energy industry entities, sharing exhibition, participation, and visiting resources to promote the coordinated development of wind, solar, and hydrogen energy storage.
Serving the Global, Global Service
Currently, countries around the world are focusing on technological innovation to lead the high-quality development of the hydrogen energy industry. This year, the internationalization level of the Hydrogen Energy Exhibition has been significantly improved. As an international hydrogen energy industry exchange and display event, it has invited nearly 20 embassy representatives and international organizations to attend. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Hydrogen Council, the International Renewable Energy Agency, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, AmCham China, and other international organizations have joined hands with the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance for practical cooperation from signing contracts, awarding certificates to keynote speeches. Embassies such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy, Australia, Sweden, and Norway are actively participating. The British Embassy in China co-hosts the first China-UK Energy Dialogue Hydrogen Energy Side Meeting, and the German International Cooperation Agency co-hosts the International Green Hydrogen Standards and Market thematic forum, promoting exchanges and dialogues on key areas such as hydrogen energy applications, standard systems, and trade cooperation. In addition, the Hydrogen Energy Exhibition also has an international exhibition area, attracting international delegations and dozens of foreign-funded enterprises to participate, showcasing international advanced hydrogen energy products, technologies, and solutions, helping foreign-funded enterprises further develop the Chinese market, promoting exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign companies, and promoting hydrogen energy technological innovation and industrial development. The Hydrogen Energy Exhibition serves as an innovative platform to lead the new pattern of the global hydrogen energy industry. The new momentum of international hydrogen energy is also serving the Chinese hydrogen energy industry through in-depth cooperation, actively promoting the high-quality development of energy cooperation and continuously achieving new results.
Demonstrating New Quality Productive Forces of Hydrogen Energy
Centered around the two main themes of " New Quality Productive Forces" and "specialization and innovation," during the exhibition, China Energy will solemnly release the achievements of the "Green Hydrogen Energy Industry Chain" and the "Hydrogen Energy Innovation Service Chain." In addition to important contract signings and releases, a special area for the State Energy Group's hydrogen energy innovation service chain has been set up. A group of core equipment representing the State Energy Group's accelerated development of the hydrogen energy industry, including the National Energy Hydrogen Storage and Transportation Innovation Platform and the first batch of "racehorses" in the hydrogen storage and transportation track innovation platform of the "14th Five-Year Plan" approved by the National Energy Administration, will make their debut at the exhibition. The innovation platform, led by the National Energy Group's Guohua Investment Company, aims to build a global advanced platform for innovative hydrogen storage and transportation technology, which will effectively promote the independent development and industrial chain autonomy of key hydrogen storage and transportation technologies in China, and grasp the international discourse power of hydrogen energy. The special area will showcase important equipment of industry unicorn enterprises such as Hydrogen Tracing, Hydrogen Testing, and Hydrogen Tracing. It includes China's first set of equipment, an integrated mobile hydrogen gas quality analyzer for fuel cells, and a hydrogen quality testing vehicle, which will help China's hydrogen energy technology to achieve a leap from "following" to "leading." At the same time, more than 20 companies will release new products through the exhibition platform, showcasing innovative achievements in hydrogen energy technology. The exhibition will witness a series of green, efficient, and cutting-edge hydrogen energy products, technologies, and solutions, demonstrating the innovative strength and high-quality productivity of China's hydrogen energy industry.
As another specific measure to accelerate the development of new productivity, the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance launched the 2024 Hydrogen Energy Specialization and Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition at the Hydrogen Energy Exhibition. This nationwide competition, the first of its kind in the field of hydrogen energy, will further promote the optimization and upgrading of the industry chain and supply chain. Currently, the Hydrogen Energy Specialization and Innovation Entrepreneurship Competition has successfully held two sessions, adhering to the concept of "using competitions to attract investment and stimulate industry development." It focuses on deploying innovative chains around the industry chain, and lays out innovative chains to develop the industry chain, tapping into "specialized, refined, and new" enterprises, promoting key technological breakthroughs in hydrogen energy, facilitating the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, and advancing scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship in depth.
During the exhibition, a series of diverse activities with participatory and interactive elements, such as test drives of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen theater lectures, and hydrogen energy popular science activities, will be held simultaneously. These activities will vividly demonstrate the broad prospects of hydrogen energy technology in various fields, further unleash the innovative vitality of hydrogen energy enterprises, and allow audiences to deeply understand and experience the hydrogen energy and fuel cell industry in an immersive manner.
