At 8:58 am on September 22, an electric train carrying 4,320 tons of clean coal slowly departed from Huanghua South Station, marking the full electrification of the Huanghua-Wanjia Railway. The electrified railway provides a cleaner, more convenient rail transport corridor for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The Huanghua-Wanjia Railway is a national Class I single-track railroad, linking Huanghua South Station in the south and Tianjin Wanjia Wharf in the north, with an annual transportation capacity of 51 million tons. It primarily focuses on coal transport.
With the electrification of the Huanghua-Wanjia Railway, new electric locomotives will replace traditional diesel locomotives. High-quality coal resources from Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, and other areas can now be transported directly to Tianjin Port using electric locomotives, reducing locomotive changeover times and increasing operational efficiency. This upgrade is expected to enhance the railway’s transportation capacity by 3 million tons, decrease fuel consumption by 47,600 tons, and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 148,000 tons each year.
