On September 17, the first cubic meter of qualified renewable hydrogen was generated at Qingshuiying Hydrogen Plant, marking the start of trial production for the East Ningxia Renewable Hydrogen Carbon Reduction Demonstration Zone project (Phase I).
Qingshuiying Hydrogen Plant is the first large-scale photovoltaic renewable hydrogen generation & coal-based ammonia synthesis project under CHN Energy in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with an investment of approximately 310 million yuan and a hydrogen production capacity of 15,000 standard cubic meters per hour. It employs photovoltaic electrolysis technology, utilizing 16 alkaline electrolyzers (15 operational, 1 backup). The hydrogen produced is purified to 99.999%, pressurized, and transported via pipelines to the East Ningxia Energy and Chemical Base for coal-based ammonia synthesis.
CHN Energy's East Ningxia Renewable Hydrogen Carbon Reduction Demonstration Zone project (Phase I), with a total investment of around 3.8 billion yuan, has a capacity of 500,000 kilowatts in photovoltaic power and 120,000 kilowatts in hydrogen production, and includes two hydrogen plants with a combined capacity of 20,000 standard cubic meters per hour, and two hydrogen refueling stations with a total capacity of 4,000 kilograms per day. After the project is operational, it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 836,400 tons annually. In total, around 20.91 million tons of carbon dioxide will be reduced throughout its 25-year operational duration.
