On June 16, CHN Energy Shandong Branch Penglai Power Plant commissioned its 101MW/205MWh hybrid energy storage station after completing all tests, marking its official commercial operation.
As China's first shared energy storage facility integrating four technologies – lithium iron phosphate, sodium-ion, vanadium flow batteries and flywheels – the station in Yantai's Penglai District comprises 31 storage units connected to the grid via seven power collection lines.
Operated through four digital platforms (hybrid energy management, operation diagnostics, power trading assistance and smart electricity sales), the project achieves millisecond-level control. With an annual charging/discharging capacity of 120 million kWh, it will participate in electricity spot market trading at full capacity.
Designated as a National Energy Administration demonstration project for new energy storage technologies, this pioneering facility establishes the first application model integrating four storage technologies, offering an innovative blueprint for modern energy system development.
