Longyuan Power has launched construction of the 2.5 GW Tengger Desert Wind Power Project in Ningxia, marking the large-scale development phase of China’s inaugural desert-gobi renewable energy base. With a planned total capacity of 13 GW, this base represents a flagship national initiative.

The current phase comprises three wind farms: Haiyuan (1 GW), Shapotou (1 GW) and Zhongwei (0.5 GW). Longyuan Power has deployed an interprovincial technical team—80% of whom are seasoned wind power professionals—supported by a smart management system featuring data-computing-algorithm synergy. Progress is rigorously controlled through daily reporting, weekly analysis and monthly adjustment mechanisms.

While foundation work has commenced at Haiyuan, preparatory activities advance steadily at other sites. Ecological protection measures, including vegetation restoration and dust suppression, are implemented concurrently. This project will establish critical operational benchmarks for renewable development in China’s arid regions.
