China Longyuan Power Group Corporation Limited recently passed the technological achievement appraisal for its project "Breakthrough in Anti-icing Technology and Engineering for Wind Turbines under Extreme Climate Conditions", with the overall technology reaching world-leading levels.
This innovation effectively resolves blade icing issues in cold and humid regions, having been successfully applied in wind farms across Guizhou, Shaanxi and other areas.
Through systematic research, the project team uncovered the mechanisms and characteristics of blade icing under various climatic conditions, developing comprehensive anti-icing solutions. Pioneering construction techniques—including the wet-laying process and integrated high-altitude vacuum infusion—significantly improved installation efficiency. The technology addresses critical challenges such as reduced power generation and increased equipment failure rates caused by icing while eliminating safety hazards from ice shedding.
Appraisal results confirm the technology achieves a fundamental transition from tackling mild/moderate icing to comprehensive ice prevention, substantially enhancing operational safety and cost-effectiveness of wind turbines. Currently deployed across multiple regional wind farms, it demonstrates remarkable results.
