On November 19, at the China Pavilion side event of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) held in Belém, Brazil, the Guoneng Sharing platform, developed by CHN Energy Longyuan Power and recognized as the world’s first floating wind-power–aquaculture integrated system, was selected for the 2025 Best Practices in Green and Low-Carbon Development by Chinese Enterprises. Its debut showcased China’s innovative breakthroughs in the sustainable use of marine resources.

Amid growing pressure on global nearshore resources, the high cost of deep-sea development and persistent challenges facing traditional marine ranching, such as limited power supply, low efficiency and high operational risks, the Guoneng Sharing platform pioneers a tri-column semi-submersible structural design. In the national marine ranching demonstration zone off Nanri Island in Putian, Fujian province, it has achieved breakthrough results. Above the platform, a 4-MW turbine continuously captures wind resources and converts them into clean electricity; below, a 10,000-cubic-meter aquaculture cage allows large yellow croaker to grow in a near-natural environment. This “power generation above, aquaculture below” model enables the efficient and integrated use of the same marine space.

Notably, supported by Longyuan Power’s advanced digital system for new energy, the platform enables intelligent aquaculture and real-time digital monitoring, fundamentally transforming traditional fisheries operations. Its open, near-ecological deep-sea farming mode gives cultivated fish semi-wild characteristics and improves product quality. Meanwhile, the combined aquaculture and power-generation revenues have reached a desirable balance, doubling the utilization efficiency of each unit of marine space.

The appearance of the Guoneng Sharing platform on the global stage of COP30 carries significant weight. This pioneering achievement demonstrates not only China’s advancements in new energy technologies but also its commitment to a sustainable development vision grounded in cross-sector collaboration and just, inclusive transition. Through the integration of diverse technologies and coordinated innovation across industries, the project delivers green development benefits to the energy, fisheries and environmental sectors, offering a replicable and scalable model for coastal nations worldwide.

Looking ahead, this innovative model is poised for wider application in Belt and Road partner countries and other coastal regions. With its unique technological strengths and strong sustainability, it is expected to contribute Chinese wisdom and solutions to global efforts toward carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
