Recently, CHN Energy Guoyuan Power Co., Ltd. completed and commissioned the Group’s first grid-connected shared energy storage demonstration station at Lingzhou Power Plant. The project will provide shared storage capacity leasing services for new energy enterprises in Ningdong Energy and Chemical Base and participate in market-based peak-shaving auxiliary services. With this commissioning, CHN Energy has put a total of 191 new-type energy storage projects into operation, reaching an overall scale of 7.7 million kW / 18.39 million kWh.

CHN Energy’s new-type energy storage portfolio is dominated by electrochemical storage, forming a diversified development pattern that includes storage paired with new energy, storage paired with thermal power, standalone storage and shared storage. Among them, storage paired with new energy has significantly improved renewable utilization, while thermal power storage projects have generated considerable economic benefits. The storage projects at Taishan, Zhaoqing and Lingwu power plants have collectively generated over 100 million yuan in frequency-regulation revenue.

On the innovation front, Lingwu Power Plant has built the nation’s first full-capacity “flywheel storage + thermal power joint frequency regulation” demonstration project. Molten-salt heat storage projects at Suzhou and Longshan power plants have pioneered a new model integrating heat storage–assisted peak shaving with combined heat supply for thermal units. Baishu Storage Station, the largest shared storage project in Chongqing, has explored diversified revenue streams through a “capacity leasing + auxiliary services + carbon asset development” model. Ningdong Hybrid PV Base has put into operation the country’s largest “lithium battery + supercapacitor” hybrid grid-forming storage station. Meanwhile, Meiyu in Zhejiang has completed the Group’s first large-scale grid-side standalone storage station.

CHN Energy will continue advancing research and development of new energy storage technologies, focusing on long-duration storage, high-temperature heat pumps and new high-density thermal storage technologies. The Group aims to enhance the flexibility of thermal power units, improve the grid integration performance of new energy, and strengthen the profitability of standalone storage systems.
