CHN Energy plans to raise its investment by 1.3 percent in 2026 compared to that in the previous year, an 80.4 percent increase compared to that in 2021, according to a press conference held by the Group recently.

CHN Energy also released its performance in the first quarter during the conference, with ten of its major operation indicators witnessing year-on-year growth. Average monthly power generation exceeded 100 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 2.7 percent year on year; chemical product output surpassed 7 million tons, an increase of 4.3 percent; and railway freight volume, port throughput and vessel shipping volume all recorded double-digit year-on-year growth.

In response to a widespread cold snap in January, the Group’s heat supply exceeded 260 million gigajoules for the first time, with single-day heat supply surpassing 4 million gigajoules, setting a new record for the same period.

CHN Energy has always put securing domestic energy supply at its core. In 2026, it will emphasize on stabilizing coal supply and upgrading coal-fired power plants, with relevant investment accounting for roughly 30 percent of the total, according to a spokesman of the Group.

Large-scale development of renewable energy is underway, according to the Group, with infrastructure investment accounting for nearly 40 percent of the total for this year, accelerating the integrated development of wind, solar, thermal and storage capacity as well as offshore wind power.

Emerging technological drivers are being cultivated, with a focus on hydrogen energy and other fields, and construction has begun on a large-scale wind-solar power and hydrogen synergy project integrating alkaline and PEM water electrolysis for hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis as an engineering demonstration.
