CHN Energy Guoyuan Power's science and technology project on the research and application of an intelligent operation control system for electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) successfully passed project acceptance recently. As China's first advanced energy-saving system for electrostatic precipitators, it has been successfully deployed on Unit 1 of the Zhundong Power Plant. Field tests show that the system has achieved an annual electricity-saving rate of 39.36% for the ESP, significantly surpassing its target of 25% and placing its energy-saving performance among the industry's leading levels.

In terms of system architecture, the project introduced an innovative intelligent control program built on the existing ESP control system. The new system operates independently of the original control platform while supporting seamless switching between the two, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the generating unit.
For operational control, the system leverages massive volumes of ESP operating and performance data to establish a robust baseline model. When boiler operating conditions change, it automatically adjusts electric field parameters based on the data model to accurately respond to load fluctuations. At the same time, it continuously compares actual outlet emission data with target values and performs secondary optimization of electric field parameters based on deviation feedback, creating a closed-loop control mechanism that links dust emissions with operating parameter adjustments. This enables the system to minimize the ESP's power consumption while ensuring stable compliance with emission standards.
The system has also delivered significant environmental and economic benefits since entering operation. It is expected to save approximately 7.32 million kWh of auxiliary electricity consumption annually while reducing 5,973 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, achieving substantial economic returns alongside meaningful environmental benefits.
