To share China's practical experience in the transition to new energy with audiences both at home and abroad, CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. hosted the "Echoes of Time" — the 5th Anniversary Special Event of the "Gen Z Energy Tour" in Beijing on August 18.
Held at the same venue as the inaugural 2022 event, this gathering marked the 5th anniversary of CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment's cross-cultural outreach. It brought together 8 international young, Greek project employees, Chinese offshore wind power experts, and 15 domestic Gen Z representatives. Through keynote sharing, site visits, borderless dialogue, and energy science outreach, the event showcased how Chinese enterprises like CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment, are leveraging wind and solar technologies in Greece's mountainous regions to drive green development in their host communities.
Structured around the concept of "Call Back", this edition named its first-ever "Green Legacy Ambassadors" — two former participants, Guery Alexandre and Konstantinos Loukidis— to guide the participants. Drawing on their years of cross-cultural study and work experience, they reflected on how their perspectives on China's green development has shifted.They also spoke to the enduring impact of cross-border dialogues on their personal and professional lives.
CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment remains committed to eco-friendly practices across its wind power projects in China and overseas. At the event, Pei Zewei, an expert from CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment's Jiangsu offshore wind power projects, presented the Guohua Energy Investment Jiangsu Dongtai Offshore Wind Power Project as a model of full-industrial-chain ecological practices. As the first Sino-foreign joint-venture offshore wind power project in China, the project was one that he personally participated in developing. He explained how the project avoided aquatic product protection areas, invested in coastline restoration, and released tens of millions of marine organisms for stock enhancement. The case provided insights into how Chinese new energy companies balance industrial development with biodiversity conservation.
The Gen Z participants then visited the BIPV (building-integrated photovoltaics) Center, where they gained first-hand experience of cutting-edge applications of BIPV. They also took part in a free-flowing, borderless dialogue on three topics: young people's career choices, the innovative thinking of Gen Z, and cross-cultural takes on low-carbon development.
The "Gen Z Energy Tour" is a signature cross-border youth exchange brand developed by CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment over the past five years. Leveraging the company's wind power and photovoltaic business in China and overseas, the program engages overseas Gen Z youth as its key participants and serves as a professional, long-term platform for green dialogue between young people from China and other countries.
Since 2022, against the backdrop of the Belt and Road Initiative, CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment has launched a series of localized Corporate Open Day events through its projects in Greece, targeting Generation Z. Over the years, evolving from the "New Energy Open Class" format, the program has gradually developed into the company's flagship "Gen Z Energy Tour" brand. It has successfully hosted 11 youth exchanges in China and overseas, reaching a cumulative global audience of nearly 100 million. The program also weaves in traditional Chinese culture — from Mid-Autumn Festival check-in events with Greek influencers to try-on sessions of Hanfu and intangible heritage craft demonstrations. These activities have gradually shaped the program's signature format, inviting young people from China and abroad to visit project sites for first-hand experiences and cross-cultural exchanges. Building on its success in Greece, the events have expanded to other Belt and Road partner countries.
In 2025, the program further integrated corporate social responsibility into its program by further cultivating experiential activities for international Gen Z participants. Ten young people from Belt and Road partner countries joined students from Guohua Hope Central Primary School, which has received the company's support for more than 20 years. Together, they attended new energy classes, experienced traditional Chinese paper-cutting, and enjoyed qinshu, a traditional Chinese folk storytelling art form. The event drew coverage from 633 overseas media outlets, including the Associated Press and The Globe and Mail, reaching hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
Today, the "Gen Z Energy Tour" has become CHN Energy Guohua Energy Investment's flagship platform for sharing China's green development story with global audiences. Looking ahead, the company will continue to expand multinational youth exchange channels by leveraging its new energy projects at home and abroad, facilitating regular cross-border youth dialogues, continuously sharing China's practical experience in advancing its carbon goals, and play its part in the global energy transition.
