CHN Energy Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station on the Dadu River, with a 315-meter-high dam which is the tallest in the world, successfully achieved its phase-one target of putting all three units into operation on August 31, providing additional support for regional energy supplies.

Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station is a key national energy project. The station has a total installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts and is equipped with four Francis turbine-generator units, each with a capacity of 500,000 kilowatts. It has an average annual power generation of approximately 7.7 billion kilowatt-hours and a total reservoir capacity of 2.9 billion cubic meters. The station can significantly improve the comprehensive utilization efficiency of water resources across the Dadu River basin and increase annual power generation at the cascade hydropower stations downstream by 6.6 billion kilowatt-hours. It serves as a key regulating reservoir and leading hydropower station in the upper reaches of the Dadu River, with functions including flood control, power generation and water resource allocation.
Since its first unit began operation in June this year, Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station has actively supported energy supply in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, southwetern China. In response to increased electricity demand during periods of high temperatures, the station accelerated efforts to achieve its phase-one power generation and commissioning target, bringing the units into operation efficiently and continuously within two months. It has delivered 500 million kilowatt-hours of clean hydropower, strengthening the foundation for reliable summer electricity supplies in Sichuan Province in southwetern China and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
