China's first smart continuous loader completes trial run

China's first smart continuous loading system for heavy-duty trucks completed its trial run at CHN Energy Baorixile Energy in Inner Mongolia, northern China on August 31. The successful application of the system marks a key technological breakthrough in intelligent unmanned loading of bulk materials by trucks in China, ushering coal bulk-material loading technology into a new stage.

The smart continuous loading system for heavy-duty trucks loads trucks in an orderly manner. 

The system was jointly developed by CHN Energy Baorixile Energy and Beidou Tiandi Co., Ltd. For years, truck loading at open-pit coal mines has relied heavily on manual positioning. Trucks have had to stop and start repeatedly and make multiple positional adjustments, placing a considerable burden on drivers. The interaction between vehicles and personnel during on-site operations has also posed safety risks. To address these industry challenges, the innovative equipment draws on the concept of parallel loading used in train marshalling. By dynamically regulating vehicle speed, it precisely matches the material discharge rate with the truck's travel speed. Drivers no longer need to manually position their trucks throughout the loading process, significantly reducing the workload of frontline personnel and strengthening on-site safety while substantially improving the quality and efficiency of loading operations. 

At the technological level, the project has overcome challenges associated with operations in extremely cold regions and pioneered integrated vehicle self-movement and high-speed loading. It fundamentally addresses the efficiency bottleneck caused by repeated stopping and starting under traditional loading methods, with overall loading efficiency expected to increase by more than 50 percent. The system can also operate in conjunction with existing truck loading stations. With an intelligent weighing system added, it can operate independently to complete weighing and loading in a single process, driving the upgrading of bulk-material loading toward a more streamlined and precisely measured model. 

As an important coal supplier in eastern Inner Mongolia, Baorixile Energy has fully implemented CHN Energy's strategy for technological innovation and consistently pursued the transformation and upgrading of mining operations through innovation. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, big data and cloud computing, the company has continued to advance the digital transformation of the traditional coal industry. A range of intelligent applications, including remote-controlled mining equipment, glasses-free 3D operations based on 4D light-field technology and autonomous locomotive loading, have now been put into operation with tangible results. At the same time, the company is harnessing technology to support ecological restoration. It has jointly undertaken research on a microalgae-based carbon sequestration demonstration project and actively explored ecological restoration of mine spoil dumps without topsoil covering, advancing both industrial upgrading and green environmental management. 

Going forward, Baorixile Energy will continue to intensify efforts in core technology research, improve its mechanisms for technological innovation and accelerate the application of more intelligent and environmentally friendly innovations, harnessing technology to support the high-quality development of the coal industry.
