On September 10, the 2026 Indonesia Environmental and Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA) ceremony was held in Bali, Indonesia. PT. Shenhua Guohua Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (SGPJB) under CHN Energy received three awards—the Emissions Reduction Award, Biodiversity Award and Social Innovation Award—for its outstanding practices in environmental protection, social responsibility and sustainable development. It became the first million-kilowatt-class coal-fired power plant to win all three awards in the history of the program.
The ENSIA is organized by PT SUCOFINDO, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise, and serve as an important platform for exchanging and recognizing corporate practices in environmental and social innovation. The awards aim to encourage companies to advance environmental protection, social responsibility and sustainable development, and contribute to building a greener, more inclusive and sustainable society. Indonesian Environment Minister Mo. Jumhur Hidayat attended the ceremony and said that environmental and social innovation is becoming increasingly important amid the three major environmental crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution, and that corporate innovation can play an important role in building a sustainable economy.

SGPJB has consistently put the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets into practice by integrating environmental protection and social responsibility into its business operations. The company has continued to improve its environmental management system and actively explored distinctive approaches to environmental protection and community development, carrying out a series of effective initiatives in ecological conservation, pollution control, resource utilization and community empowerment.
In ecological and environmental protection, the company has continued to advance projects for mangrove restoration, river management and biodiversity conservation. It has planted 42,000 mangrove trees and cleaned up the Terate River in Indonesia, continuously improving the surrounding ecological environment and enhancing the stability of the regional ecosystem.
In fulfilling its social responsibilities, the company has responded to the actual needs of local communities by continuing to implement the Annie's Wish education assistance program and the Hope Village community empowerment initiative. Focusing on three key areas—local infrastructure development, education and healthcare assistance, and economic empowerment—the company has actively strengthened communication and engagement with local governments, community residents and other stakeholders. Through targeted and sustainable assistance programs, it has promoted shared development between the company and local communities.
