The first dedicated container train carrying polyolefin products from Baotou Coal Chemical under CHN Energy, located in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, departed successfully on October 18. This marks the official launch of a new large-scale transport model in which entire trains are dedicated to container shipments of polyolefin products by China Shenhua Coal to Liquid and Chemical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CHN Energy (hereinafter referred to as the Chemical Company). The new model further expands outbound transportation channels and strengthens the logistics foundation for efficient, cost-effective transportation of polyolefin products.

Containers being lifted for loading
A total of 58 standard containers were deployed for this inaugural shipment, carrying 1,508 tons of polyethylene grade 8007 produced by Baotou Coal Chemical. The entire shipping process was completed through an efficient, closed-loop workflow, establishing a standardized, integrated chain of operations.
Compared with the traditional use of covered wagons on China's national railway network, the dedicated container train model offers clear advantages. Taking advantage of the operating conditions at the Baotou Coal Chemical plant, products are loaded into containers and sealed on-site in a single operation, then transported without unpacking along the way. This significantly reduces intermediate handling and transshipment, effectively lowering the risk of damage and contamination during transit and ensuring consistent product quality.
Meanwhile, by leveraging the intermodal connection between the company's dedicated railway and the national railway network, the new model optimizes transport routes, reduces overall logistics costs, and improves shipping efficiency and market competitiveness. Moving container loading upstream to the production site also shortens off-site transfer processes, making logistics operations more efficient, standardized and controllable.
The successful dispatch of the first dedicated container train represents an important step by the Chemical Company in optimizing logistics, innovating outbound transportation models, and expanding sales and logistics channels. Going forward, the company will systematically review the experience gained from this inaugural operation, continue to optimize container shipping procedures, refine operating standards, and improve its logistics support system, while steadily expanding the scale of container shipments for polyolefin products.
